Alfred Mame et Fils, Polyeucte Martyr, 1889 (Bibliothèque André Desguine)
Ce vers célèbre de Corneille dans sa pièce de 1643, Polyeucte, a fait les délices des étudiants qui le prononçait à voix haute pour en saisir le double-sens exquis. D'ailleurs le mot «désir» n'apparaît que 10 fois dans le texte original qui est plutôt une fiction mêlée de réalité sur la vie de Saint Polyeucte, martyr extatique chrétien dans une Arménie sous occupation romaine. L'extrémisme de Polyeucte fera d'ailleurs dire à Voltaire que la pièce de Corneille parle plus du fanatisme que du martyre comme forme extrême de la croyance.
Passons sur ces tergiversations intéressantes pour ne retenir que la notion de désir qui se révèle donc dans ces vers de l'acte I-scène I, lorsque Polyeucte répond à son ami Néarque:
Vous me connaissez mal, la même ardeur me brûle,
Et le désir s'accroît quand l'effet se recule...
Et le désir s'accroît quand l'effet se recule...
Le même glissement flagrant (ici sonore) qui fait toute la charmante mésinterprétation et le décalage de ce vers est visible dans une pub qui passe en ce moment sur les écrans et qui n'a rien à voir avec l'extase mystique (quoique...).

Cette publicité est revenue sur les écrans pour cette fin d'année 2009. Perrier s'en sert à nouveau pour souhaiter de joyeuses fêtes. Je regarde très peu la télévision, et encore moins la publicité, mais je suis tombé sous le charme de celle-ci. Déjà parce qu'elle vole bien plus haut que les autres, ce qui en soit n'est pas dur puisqu'elles tirent plutôt vers le bas. Mais aussi parce que son côté désuet la fait briller. Il semble d'ailleurs de bonne augure de revenir à la source, tout comme Delon jeune qui a été ressorti des placards.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

I'm 39 now. I started trading stocks back when I was just 24. I did very well for a while, but lost my butt off in the recent crash. So I've been looking into trying Forex.
